Maidstone and Cray shared the points in the Ryman League Premier
Division Kent derby at Homelands on Saturday.
The Stones came close to taking an early lead when Steve
Elliott’s cross found Ant Bodle and his header grazed the post
after four minutes.
Cray had a penalty appeal turned down after 20 minutes when
Leigh Bremner was bundled over in box by a combination of Peter
Hawkins and Rob Lyall.
The visitors then took the lead after 24 minutes when George
Porter’s shot deflected into the net off Lyall.
Cray hit the bar after the break, but six minutes from time the
Stones equalised. Dean Rance threaded the ball through to Peter
Hawkins and he kept his calm to finish superbly.
Tonbridge were 3-1 winners over Canvey Island
at Longmead.
They took the lead when Lee Minshull crossed for Kirk Watts to
head the ball into the net.
Paul Booth tapped in Angels’ second after Adam Burchell’s shot
rebounded off the post only for James Rowe to pull one back for the
visitors before half-time.
Rowe saw red in the second half following a challenge keeper Lee
Worgan, before substitute Jerahl Hughes go Tonbridge’s third.
