Invicta Dynamos head coach Kevin
Parrish was delighted his injury-hit squad wrapped up the ENIHL
Division 1 South title with games to spare.
Mos needed just a point on the tight
rink of Isle of Wight side Wightlink Raiders on Saturday to secure
the crown and did so with a 5-2 win.
Parrish said the win sparked wild
celebrations on the journey home. However, the players were
responsible enough to be in shape for the following day’s clash
with closest challengers Cardiff Devils at Gillingham Ice Bowl,
which they won 10-4.
Mos will see out their schedule with a
testing away double-header against Oxford City Stars and Chelmsford
Chieftains on Saturday and Sunday.
Parrish said: "We had a hard run-in so
it was good that we got it wrapped up. We were delighted. A lot of
hard work went into it."
He added: "Isle of Wight’s rink is
just over half the size of ours and at the start of the season I’d
have said we were doing well to come away from that building with
one point, let alone the four we have got there this season.
"It is a tough place to play which
made winning the title there a little more special."
With the end-of-season play-offs to
come, Parrish says the Mos are in the unusual position of being
underdogs, having suffered key injuries to defenceman Ryan Giles
and prolific forward Nolan Boike.
Parrish said: "This is the first time
in a few years that we will be going in as underdogs, as we are
missing a couple of big players but there is no reason for us to
fear anyone."
