Cody McDonald and Andy Barcham doubtful for Bury v Gillingham

Cody McDonald

Gillingham are again facing selection problems ahead of their trip to Bury on Saturday.

Injuries have plagued the Gills’ first month back in League 2 and they do not appear to be getting much better after the midweek injuries to Andy Barcham and Cody McDonald (pictured).

McDonald, who only returned last week after a foot injury, twisted an ankle in the defeat at Southend and Barcham also took a knock. Both are doubtful this weekend.

Alan Julian is likely to remain on the bench as he continues to rest his hand, which he broke in pre-season.

Garry Richards (ankle), Curtis Weston (thigh) and Dennis Oli (hamstring) are all close to returning but may have to wait another week before doing so.

Striker Adebayo Akinfenwa has been having injections to cure a niggling shoulder problem but should play.

Belgian midfielder Stanley Aborah now has his international clearance and begins a new one-month contract this weekend but is still fighting off a thigh injury.

Simon King (ankle) and Dean Rance (foot) remain on the long-term injury list.

The likes of Mark McCammon and Josh Gowling returned to the side on Tuesday at Southend and will be fighting for a first-team shirt at Bury.

To all you Medway Muppets out there: What good would Marlon King be to us, or Coventry for that matter, once he's back on D Wing? The man is clearly mentally ill and in need of a psychiatrist - not a football club!

So that's why Norwich gave us Cody McDonald - he's a crock whose wages we now have to apy for the season. Was Scally to mean and stupid to pay for a medical before taking him?

listen fools, Brandy is still without a club, I think he would reconsider how much wages he wants if he really wants to continue his career.

anyway, why couldn't he have an Aborah monthly type contract, that way it would put him in the shop window and he would help us over our injury crisis until McDonald recovers.

at the moment, the only strikers we have are McDonald (injured) McCammon (literally useless waste of space and a shirt) and Stefan Payne and Andy White who are still not up to it, and Akinfenwa who is having injections in his shoulder in order to play, it's a really dire situation, you can't win games without goals

Marlon King was earning £30,000 a week at Wigan. We couldn't afford to pay him £1000 a week, so get real, eh?

Although not the same calibre, Brandy would still be way above our wage structure.

Some of our fans really are utterly clueless.

How could we have lost out on Marlon King when he was totally out of our league anyway, and that would have been only in terms of his wages.

I agree he probably can't expect to be earning what he did before but even by dropping it still would be 4+ times more than what we could ever afford to pay.

I can't understand how / why fans feel we should be bringing in players like this when we know we're unable to pay those kind of wages.

I agree it would be nice but lets be realistic....

    Mr BangBang,
do you seriously believe that Marlon King would have wanted to join us or that we could possibly afford him?

    Get real, mush.
