Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler disappointed at two points against Macclesfield Town

Andy Hessenthalerby Luke Cawdell

Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler came away from Macclesfield disappointed his side didn’t claim maximum points.

Hessenthaler felt his side edged the goalless draw at Moss Rose after making the opposition goalkeeper pull off a couple of good saves.

"I’m a little bit disappointed we haven’t won the game," said Hessenthaler.

"In the second half, for the first 10/15 minutes we looked like we were going to score at any time, Their keeper has made two fantastic saves and our keeper has had nothing to save.

"We are disappointed not to gave picked up the three points because over the 90 minutes we were the better team."

It was a second goalless League 2 draw in a row for Hessenthaler’s team but they remain seventh in the table.

"It’s not an easy place to go," said the Gills boss. "We knew it would be a physical test and we talked about it all week.

"I thought we defended very well and I was quite comfortable on the line because I didn’t think we were going to concede.

"We got a decent point but our final ball, in that last third, was lacking a little bit.

"In the second half we came out and looked like we believed in ourselves a bit more and we moved the ball around really well and created two great openings. There were two fantastic saves from their goalkeeper."

I was also disappointed at two points dropped on Saturday. We were much the better team. However, seven games unbeaten is great.

To be honest though, I'm more disappointed with some of the nasty abuse that has been posted on this site over recent weeks. Well done to the KM for getting us to sign up with a login so that the comments section becomes members only. What a relief ...

If he had a set of balls he would have put his actual row in as well instead of a ?, but then again I doubt he'd want all the abuse he deserves.

Mr Simpson said that Gills have a squad that is too good for this division and that we could play at a higher division.
Why then are we stuttering along in 7th position.
He also said that yesterday his side had a number of players missing due to injuries and suspensions and that a number of those that did play against Gills were not fully fit.Shouldn't we have beaten them then.
Iput it to you that if we had a better manager we would be at least 6pts better off.

Hessy is doing a good job that takes time. We now have got some decent footballers in the team. Joe Martin, Charlie Lee, Chris Whelpdale, Joe Kuffour and Frank Nouble. Mark Stimson record of two relegations in three seasons speaks volumes, he tried to force ex premier league player Nicky Southall out of the club and gave Andrew Crofts away because he was not good enough. He brought in players like Stuart Thurgood, his son Charlie and his best mate Adam Miller. Ron do you really want to watch that quality of player at Priestfield Stadium? Mark Stimson wont get another managers job at league level, i think its pretty obvious to anybody with a bit of football knowledge, he is just sunday morning manager working on a saturday afternoon with non league players and somne of his friends/mates. I wish him all the best and glad the Gills have moved on..... Looking forward to seeing Tony Pulis down at the Gills on the 7th January, what a manager! (Plus Peter Crouch, that should be fun).

I got it spot on last season & I've got it spot on this season. We have a poor manager that will NEVER lead us to promotion from League Two. The top three positions ARE a million miles away now & will soon become a billion miles away. This team under this manager will NOT even make the Play Offs AGAIN! Any other manager in charge of us WOULD have been sacked last season with those results & this season as well. We are stuck with an unsackable manager that will NEVER win that promotion he was brought back to the football club for.

The facts are clear, talk is not cheap. If Mark Stimson would have been here last season we would now be in League One now already. Mark Stimson under that budget that Hessenthaler was given last season would 100% of gained automatic promotion. This was a VERY poor league last season & Hessenthaler totally failed. This season the league is a bit stronger & once again our failure stares us in the face. People will look at Kettering Town to see how Mark Stimson is doing & see them at the bottom, but the truth is that the club there is bust, they have only School boy players & will fold at any moment. At Barnet Stimson had the lowest budget in the league. Stimson won promotion in his first season in League Two at this club & that fact will ALWAYS better anything than Hessenthaler could ever do.

Hessenthaler you are USELESS! You had a MASSIVE budget once again at the start of the season, whilst you layed back the other teams took the top players. There is no management of this squad, we don't even have a capable assistant manager now. This squad this season under this manager was NEVER going to win promotion. That squad & that manager will do well to finish 16th place this season. We are pathetic! Mark Stimson won at Morecambe, Macclesfield & Accrington in the league, but this joke of a manager is NOT up to the job. Never will he be replaced due to the Best Friends Act. We WOULD be top three now if Stimson was here for this League Two season, that budget would have been well spent.

Macclesfield Town yesterday could only just about field a team. Some of those players are also School boys, thats how bad it was. They'll be lucky to have two subs on the bench in midweek. Macclesfield's gate is 1,000 where as ours is 5,000. We should be going to places like that & turning them over! We are NOT doing it, the manager is NOT doing the job & the chairman is NOT taking charge. Changes ARE required, this "manager" HAS got to go!

No more excuses, the stats are there for everyone to see. We SHOULD be aiming for top three with that squad & money spent but we are NO WHERE NEAR IT! The top three HAS gone for this season & with that the "manager" MUST be gone now as well. Your time in charge Hessenthaler has been shocking from the start. You are NOT capable of leading this club to promotion from this league & you NEVER were. Mark Stimson WOULD have been sacked last season if he did NOT take us up & WOULD also have been sacked with these poor results/league positions this season.

WE DEMAND THAT THE CHANGE IS MADE! WE WILL 100% BE IN THIS LEAGUE TWO SHOCKER OF A LEAGUE AGAIN NEXT SEASON! WE NEED A NEW MANAGER! THE SUPPORTERS DEMANDED THE EXIT OF MARK STIMSON & LOOK WHERE THAT HAS GOT US! STIMSON BEATS HESSENTHALER IN EVERY SINGLE AREA! FRIENDSHIPS ASIDE WE NEED A NEW MANAGER THAT IS UP TO THE JOB & THAT MAN IS MARK STIMSON WHETHER THE "SUPPORTERS" LIKE IT OR NOT - HE GOT THE JOB DONE!
