Gillingham boss Martin Allen grateful for support as best crowd of season so far pack Priestfield for Fleetwood game

by Luke Cawdell
The best home crowd of the season on Saturday was appreciated by
Gillingham boss Martin Allen.
Gills fans crammed into Priestfield, following a £10 ticket
offer, with the gate swelling to 8,571 – up 3,000 on the average
attendance this season.
Allen, pictured, said: "I thought it was amazing. Second
half it was fantastic. The atmosphere was magic.
"When you are the manager and you look around, you think ‘this
is pretty good’. Then, when you are 2-0 down, they kept singing and
that for me was probably one of the highlights of the day.
"The paying public have hopefully gone home happy to see all our
lads having a real go."
But Allen admitted he wasn’t happy at the final whistle. He
said: "I was really naffed off when our music didn’t get
played.
"When our players have done so well, I like the supporters to
sing and for our players to thank them. So I will be finding out
why that music didn’t get played."
