Gillingham boss Martin Allen keen to strengthen his top-of-the-table side in bid to keep momentum going in 2013

Gillingham boss Martin Allen is predicting an even
better second half of the season for the club – despite
finishing the first top of the league.
The Gills will have reached the halfway stage of their League 2
campaign after their game at York on Saturday and, whatever the
outcome, will remain top.
And with Allen, pictured, already negotiating January
transfers, he is set to have a bigger and better squad at his
disposal.
He said: "There is an awful long way to go and we have to
play a lot of top teams again.
"We have done well to get to halfway top of the league but I
think we are going to be stronger, I really do. We are going to add
more players.
"It is our duty to keep trying to improve. We have to keep
looking to improve and get better. In January, we will be looking
to bring in new players."
Allen is expected to bring in Crystal Palace midfielder David
Wright and is also keeping tabs on MK Dons’ injured defender Tom
Flanagan. Both impressed at the Gills during loan spells earlier in
the season.
