Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler makes Matt Lawrence and Dennis Oli available for loan

Matt LawrenceGillingham pair Matt Lawrence and Dennis Oli have been made available for loan.

Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler has told both players that they will not be offered new deals when their contracts expire in the summer.

Hessenthaler is keen to free up funds in his transfer budget to bring in fresh blood as he bids to halt the club’s losing streak.

Among the players Hessenthaler has his eye on is former Charlton defender Jonathan Fortune.

The Gills boss said: “Jonathan is going to come in again on Monday. I have said to him we may do something but it might mean I have to get a few boys out on loan.

“Matt Lawrence (pictured above) is up for loan along with Dennis Oli. Their contracts are up (in the summer) and I pretty much told them that we won’t be offering them a new deal.

“I have been honest with them and I said, ‘the window is up for loans and if someone comes in then we will consider them going out on loan’.”

Fortune, 31, has been with the Gillingham for the last two weeks on trial.

Lawrence was not included in the Gills squad on Saturday but has made 73 appearances for the club since joining them on a free in August 2010.

Dennis Oli suffered a knee injury against Calais on Saturday.Forward Oli (right) has been plagued by injuries since Hessenthaler took over the reigns as manager from Mark Stimson. He has started just one league game this season but since joining in January 2008 from Grays he has clocked up 137 appearances and scored 12 goals.

Hessenthaler has also been keeping tabs on well-travelled wide-man Rohan Ricketts.

Ricketts was ill at the end of last week but Hessenthaler will consult with the player’s agent and look to see some more of the 29-year-old.

Hessenthaler said: “He is a different type of player to what we already have got. He’s a wide player who can go and get at people.”

cant say im sad to see you go really.

there is a difference between offering your opinion and talking in fiction and deliberately misleading people into thinking that our plight is worse than it is, as you have done a few times just to my knowledge.

if you repeatedly say something that is known by others to be plain WRONG, then isn't it reasonable to expect to be told about it?

PS some are more sensible though and would be worth exchanging views with because they except we all see things differently.

    fred,
you1re right about Adrian Pennock, the difference is he played under a manager who knew how to play to individuals strengths and knew what he was doing.
Hess has had Simon King all season (similar injury status unfortunately except it's his ankle not his knee)and only played him yesterday because he had no else to choose.
It will be interesting to see if King'y manages to play on Tuesday, if so for how long.

    Ivano -

adrian pennock was also an injury write-off the same as fortune, consigned to the dustbin heap of former footballers. and we all know what a fantastic player he turned out to be for us.

SO PLEASE, STICK TO COMMENTING ABOUT THINGS THAT YOU ACTUALLY KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT

Hessenthaler if there is one once of feeling for the club left in Scally then you wont be here.If you are then i will be picking which games to attend and not renewing my season ticket. That is a fact.

Tell us Fred, which triple A class narcotics are you on today? Good decision my foot. Neither of these players should have been in the squad for the start of this season in the first place.
