Tranmere Rovers 1 Charlton Athletic 1

Charlton Athletic saw their lead at the top of Npower League 1
cut to six-points after being held to a 1-1 draw at Tranmere Rovers
on Saturday.
Chris Powell was without the injured skipper Johnnie Jackson but
handed sprightly youngster Danny Haynes his full-debut at Prenton
Park, but Ryan Brunt converted a cross from Martin Devaney past Ben
Hamer 12 minutes before half-time to give Rovers a surprise
lead.
Hamer had earlier denied the young striker the opener with a
fine save from a header.
Yann Kermorgant was denied a leveller by Owain Fon Williams
before Michael Morrison (pictured) drew the Addicks level on the
hour when his header from Dale Stephens’ corner hit the underside
of the crossbar and was adjudged to have crossed the line for his
fourth goal of the season.
Charlton threw everything at Tranmere in the closing stages and
sub Bradley Wright-Phillips and Kermorgant spurned chances to win
it and Danny Hollands headed over from close range, while Hamer
tipped an Adam McGurk free-kick onto the bar at the other end.
The result was the fifth straight 1-1 draw between the two
sides.
Sheffield United trimmed the Addicks’ lead, though third-placed
Sheffield Wednesday lost at Chesterfield, extending the Charlton's
gap over the automatic promotion-chasers.
