Invicta Dynamos coach Kevin
Parrish has challenged his team to achieve a third-place finish in
ENIHL South Division 1 despite their "up and down
season."
Dynamos consolidated fifth place
in style on Saturday with a 12-1 hammering of the Slough ENL Jets
but Parrish is setting his sights higher as they prepare for a home
game with Streatham Redskins on Sunday (5.15pm).
Parrish said: "If we can
finish third behind Romford and Chelmsford then it won’t be a bad
season when you consider the squads they’ve got and all the ups and
downs we’ve had with injuries and players leaving.
"It’s been hard fielding a team
at times with half the players down the A&E but we’ve stayed
the course and want that third spot now."
To achieve that goal, Dynamos,
on 28 points from 23 games, will have to win all their games in
hand to overhaul third-placed Wightlink Raiders (36 from 27) and
fourth-placed Cardiff ENL Devils (33 from 26) but Parrish believes
the big win over Slough – their third league victory in a row –
showed they are in the right sort of form to do it.
Four-goal Callum Best led the
way and Canadian Justin Noble chipped in with a
hat-trick.
Parrish said: "We played some
entertaining hockey, made a couple of big hits and scored some good
goals.
"And it was nice for me as well
because when you are six or seven goals up you can relax a bit and
have a bit of a laugh and a joke with the players and that hasn’t
been the case many times this season because of all the problems
we’ve had."
Dynamos lost 5-0 at Chelmsford
Chieftains in an ENIHL Southern Cup on Sunday. Romford having
already secured the trophy.
