Kent teams finished in top five positions in all six races at
the South East Schools Inter-Counties Cross Country at Basildon on
Saturday.
Rebecca Weston, pictured, (Invicta, 2nd) and Ruth Bourne
(Tonbridge, 3rd) made the individual podium in their races as
medals were hard to achieve in this match for teams from Kent,
Berkshire, Essex, Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex.
Jamie Bryant (Tonbridge, 8th), Adam Gilbert (Medway and
Maidstone, 17th) and Tom Wright (Bexley, 18th) headed the senior
boy’s fifth placed team.
The intermediate boys were fourth with Corey De’ath (9th), Hanro
Roussouw (13th) and Nathan Marsh (16th) of Tonbridge prominent.
The junior boys were also fourth, led by Alasdair Kinloch
(Thanet, 15th) and Euan Nicholls (Tonbridge, 19th) well placed.
Rebecca Weston’s individual silver set the senior girls on their
way to fifth place, supported by Amber Reed (Blackheath and
Bromley, 14th).
Ruth Bourne’s bronze in the intermediate girls was backed by top
ten finishes from Kate Curran (Blackheath and Bromley, 8th) and
Alice Wood (Tonbridge, 9th) as the team finished fourth.
Sabrinha Sinha (Cambridge Harriers, 7th), Anna Weston (Invicta,
8th) and Georgina Taylor (Blackheath and Bromley, 10th) saw another
near miss in the team medals as Kent’s junior girls were also
fourth.
