Sittingbourne's Joe Nwoko runs
through the Whitehawk defence
Sittingbourne achieved one of their best
results of the season in Ryman League Division 1 South with a 2-0
home success over title-chasing Whitehawk.
Joe Dowley's side, without a victory in seven games, ended their
poor run with second-half goals from Joe Nwoko and Bryan
Glover.
Folkestone Invicta's run of seven successive
league wins came to an end with a 2-2 draw against a Burgess Hill
side who finished the game with nine men.
Invicta were 2-0 up early in the second half through strikes
from Stuart King and Darren Marsden but the Sussex side fought back
to earn a point with goals from Max Miller and Fred Foreman despite
having two players sent off in the second half, Miller and Marc
Munday.
Ramsgate also battled back from 2-0 down to
earn a point at leaders Bognor Regis. James Crane and Ashley
Robinson gave Regis a 2-0 half-time lead, but Ben Laslett reduced
the deficit soon after the break and Joe Taylor grabbed the
equaliser in injury time.
Hythe Town drew 1-1 with Corinthian-Casuals at
Reachfields but they should have taken all three points after
failing to convert long spells of possession into more goals. Dave
Hodges put Casuals in front early in the second half and Hythe
manager Scott Porter reacted by bringing on substitute Brendan
Cass, and it was Cass who fired 68th-minute equaliser from the
penalty spot after he had been brought down in the box.
Maidstone United and Godalming also drew 1-1
with both goals coming in the final 10 minutes. Godalming took the
lead through Scott Harris but Banff Addae equalised two minutes
from time.
Faversham took the lead at Merstham but ended
up losing 2-1. Adrian Stone gave Ray Turner's side the lead in the
second half but Merstham scored twice in the final 10 minutes
through Fabio Saraiva and Omar Folkes.
Whitstable Town slumped to a 5-0 defeat at
fellow strugglers Walton & Hersham with their goals coming from
Graeme Purdy (3), Phil Williams and an own goal.
Chatham Town were beaten 3-0 by Brentwood Town
in Ryman 1 North, with the Essex side's goals coming from Steve
Butterworth, Dean Green and Ryan Doyle while Thamesmead Town went
down 1-0 at Maldon & Tiptree. Sos Yao scored the only goal goal
after 32 minutes.
In the Ryman Premier, the non-league's leading scorer, Kwesi
Appiah, grabbed his 32nd goal of the season to give
Margate a 1-0 home win over Concord Rangers
