Tonbridge Angels 0 Chelmsford City 0

Tonbridge Angels missed the chance to close
the gap on the play-off places in Blue Square Bet South
after a goalless draw at home to Chelmsford City on Saturday.
City arrived in fifth place, nine points ahead
of their hosts, and Lee Worgan (pictured) held an early Max
Cornhill header before the Angels stopper held a drive from Ricky
Modeste after the Chelmsford man had cut in from the left and shot
from the edge of the area.
Cornhill spurned a good chance for the
visitors to go ahead after Kezie Ibe ghosted down the left and
crossed for Jamie Slabber, with the ball dropping to Cornhill to
lash over the bar from 10 yards.
It was to be his last involvement as a
head injury saw Cornhill replaced by Cliff Akurang, but Angels
missed the best chance of the half on the stroke of half-time when
towering Mikel Suarez headed over from inside the six-yard box with
Stuart Searle in the Clarets goal beaten.
After the interval top scorer Frannie Collin
prodded wide when he should have scored, and he missed the target
again on 68 minutes when well-placed.
The game was delayed by more than 10 minutes
when the referee needed treatment, and was eventually stretchered
off, but after the restart Chelmsford defender Kenny Clark went
close to breaking the deadlock with a header from close range which
flew just over.
Tonbridge sought a late winner but Nathan
Koranteng and Rory Hill saw shots charged down by some desperate
City defending, and the hosts had to settle for a share of the
points to stay eighth, nine points adrift of City and five behind
sixth-placed Dover.
