Gillingham defender Joe Martin faces another month on the sidelines but Charlie Allen is set for a return
There was good and bad news on
the injury front for the Gills before the weekend.
Broken hand victims Charlie Allen and Joe Martin
(pictured) went to see a specialist on Thursday but the
reports were hit and miss.
Martin has been told he needs another
month on the sidelines, but Allen could be back in action for the
development squad tomorrow (Tuesday), after getting the green light
to up his training.
Boss Martin Allen said: "Charlie has
got to have three days of training before he can join back in with
the first team, on Tuesday.
"It is bad news unfortunately with Joe
Martin. He has got to rest for a month where he can have no
contact. The bone in his hand hasn’t fused and so until that starts
to repair he can’t do anything. It is very frustrating."
Allen (pictured left) will train again today (Monday) and the
management will then decide whether to let him play in a
development game at the training ground on Tuesday.
Bradley Dack, meanwhile, has no breaks
or ligament damage in his foot but may still face several weeks on
Allen said: "It’s just bone bruising and that’s going to take
time, we don’t know how long that’s going to take."
