James Tredwell wants to stay with Kent County Cricket Club for rest of his career

James Tredwell says he is prepared to remain a one-club man
throughout his career and hopes his new three-year deal at Kent
will not be his last with the county.
The England spinner (pictured) extended his stay at the St
Lawrence Ground after revealing the club ‘is a nicer place to be’
than it was 12 months ago.
The 30-year-old off-spinner, who made his First Class debut for
Kent in July 2001, said: "As a lad, growing up, you want to play
for your county and your country and I have been fortunate and
lucky enough to be able to do that and I am pleased to have agreed
a new contract to stay."
He added: "As a group, things have come along nicely this
season. The club is a nicer place to be this year. We are all a lot
happier, a good set-up has been put in place over the past 12
months."
Tredwell was linked with a move to Warwickshire when Kent were
relegated from Division 1 of the LV= County Championship two years
ago but said he wants to stay with Kent so long as the club match
his ambitions.
He added: "You have to be realistic.
These days with two divisions of cricket, people might look to move
to play at the highest level.
"I have got to the stage now where I’m
not the youngest, I’ve got a family but the future looks bright
here and that made the decision to stay easier.
"Plus if you’re performing well, then
you know you’ll get paid what you’re worth wherever you go. That
takes care of itself.
"You never know what might happen. Sometimes you need to make
moves in your career but I hope the club stays ambitious and the
ambitions match
my own.
