Striker Danny Kedwell set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury
by Luke Cawdell
Leading scorer Danny Kedwell looks set to miss out again
for the Gills after picking up a hamstring injury.
The 12-goal striker (pictured) was
injured while warming down after last week’s defeat to Wycombe at
Priestfield.
He was subsequently left behind in Kent as the Gills embarked on
a five-day trip north for games at Bradford, on Saturday, and now
on Tuesday in York.
Midfielder Charlie Allen could also be a doubt for the visit to
the 18th-placed Minstermen after he limped off with an ankle injury
in the win at Valley Parade.
Allen was back in the starting XI on Saturday and manager Martin
Allen was pleased with the player’s return.
“He covered a huge amount of ground and got us going for a
while,” said the Gills boss.
“He did great and he did the job that he was there to do. It was
his first game for a while and we had to bring him back and get his
confidence up again. I don’t know how bad his ankle is but we will
find out.”
Bradley Dack could step in as a replacement in the 18-man squad
while youth player Jake Hessenthaler is also available, after being
recalled from a loan spell at Merstham.
“Young boys are going to have to step up and step in and be part
of it,” said Allen.
