Midweek Ryman League round-up

Alex Flisher

Maidstone United extended their lead at the top of Ryman League Division 1 South with victory at Corinthian Casuals on Tuesday night.

Ian Draycott opened the scoring and Alex Flisher (pictured) netted twice for the Stones, before Steve Goddard pulled one back for the home side.

The Stones are now six points clear of second-placed Dulwich Hamlet although the south London side have three games in hand.

Faversham Town remain fourth despite losing 1-0 at Walton & Hersham.

It was the first time Ray Turner’s side had lost a league game away from Salters Lane since August.

There was a Kent derby at Bourne Park, where fifth-placed Sittingbourne let slip a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Herne Bay.

Ryan Cooper and Joe Taylor had put the Brickies in control but Tunji Agbajae and Sam Bewick, from the penalty spot, struck inside three second-half minutes to rescue a point.

The visitors finished with 10 men when Tom Bryant was sent off in stoppage-time.

In the Ryman League Premier Division, Cray Wanderers crashed to their fifth straight home defeat as Enfield Town romped to a 5-1 win.

Veteran striker Scott McGleish scored a hat-trick for the visitors, with Michael Power registering a consolation for Cray.

Meanwhile, Thamesmead Town are through to the semi-finals of the Kent Senior Cup after they beat Ramsgate 3-1 at Bayliss Avenue.

Stuart Zanone, Lewis Tozer and Rob Carter scored the goals which sent the Mead through to a last-four meeting with Charlton or Herne Bay. Tom Chapman netted for Ramsgate.
