Gillingham striker Ben Strevens departs Priestfield for Dagenham & Redbridge

Striker Ben Strevens has left Gillingham for
fellow League 2 side Dagenham.
Strevens joined the Gills in the summer as one
of manager Martin Allen’s first signings.
But he soon moved down the pecking order with
the arrivals of fellow forwards Myles Weston and Deon Burton.
The return to fitness of Adam Birchall left
Strevens’ chances further reduced.
Strevens was made available for transfer at
the start of the year.
He made 15 appearances for the Gills but
started four just four league matches and his last outing was as a
substitute against Fleetwood before Christmas.
Strevens tweeted: “Really hope you go on and
win the league and get a deserved promotion up to league 1... Gonna
miss the boys they've been quality.”
Boss Martin Allen said: “Ben Strevens has been
a top professional, a good player and is a really good person
around our club.
“However, with the arrival of Cody McDonald
and the option of playing Myles Weston upfront the opportunities to
actually start games have been limited.
“I’m sure he will do very well for Dagenham
and we wish him the very best of luck in the future.”
The Gills, meanwhile, have also completed the
formalities of a permanent deal for defender Leon Legge.
His initial one month loan from Brentford has
come to an end and he has signed a contract until the summer of
2015.
Legge tweeted: “New challenge and life with
Gills. So far I couldn’t wished for better start.”
