More than 200 Gillingham
supporters left the snow behind in Kent to cheer their team on at
Exeter on Tuesday night.
And their dedication didn’t go
unnoticed by Gills boss Martin Allen, who said: "I have to give a
special mention to the supporters.
"There seemed to be an awful lot
of them at the game and they were all behind that goal. It was not
an easy game to watch, let’s not beat about the bush. It wasn’t
great to watch but we stuck in there and I hope our supporters went
home happy.
"I hope they got a good sleep on
the bus and got home safe. I thank them all for making the journey
because it’s a long way and it was like Siberia (in Kent) in the
morning.
"To have seen them all at the
game was surprising and it was a fair effort on their
part."
The official away following on
Tuesday was 237 and on Saturday will see the supporters make the
second of three long away trips in eight days, when they head to
Morecambe.
Another away game at Rochdale follows on Tuesday, a total
door-to-door mileage from Priestfield Stadium of 1,514 miles –
approximately the same distance to Bucharest in Romania or the
southern tip of Spain.
