Gillingham assistant manager John Schofield writes exclusively for the KM Group

The end of the season is getting nearer but the players won’t be
looking beyond this weekend.
We’ve got an itinerary planned for the next six weeks and
everything is all set out but all anyone is focusing on at the
moment is the game at Morecambe.
Tuesday’s point at Exeter turned out to be a great one because
it enabled us to maintain an eight-point gap over fourth place and
we are now down to single figures in games remaining.
It is another game that’s ticked off the list and closer to the
46 we have got to play. Looking at the calendar now, in six weeks
it will be the last Football League game.
It doesn’t seem long when you consider that if you look the
other way we have been involved in games over nine months now.
Every week we are seeing some strange results. Not just in our
division, but across the leagues and it doesn’t matter what level
you play at.
There are results that you probably can’t predict and teams who
are doing well and teams around the play-offs who are having mixed
results.
At this stage, it’s just about trying to keep your nerve and
staying level. We have said that a few times this year, staying
level when you win games and when you aren’t picking up points just
believe in what you are doing.
