Hythe Town dented Dulwich Hamlet’s Ryman
League, Division 1 South title hopes with a 1-0 victory at
Reachfields on Saturday.
Craig Cloke scored the only goal eight minutes from time to give
Hythe’s own play-off chances a big boost.
And the result also meant that leaders Maidstone
United, whose match at Chipstead was one of 13 postponed
Ryman League matches, retained their six-point lead over
second-placed Dulwich.
Former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty was among the
crowd at Southwood where Ramsgate coasted to a 4-0
victory over lowly Horsham to move within touching distance of the
play-off spots. The Ramsgate goals came from Jon Equilor (2), Ian
Pulman and James Sherman.
Whitstable drew 1-1 at home with fellow
strugglers Walton Casuals. The visitors took the lead in the second
half through James McShane but Whitstable equalised almost
immediately when Micheal Everitt headed home James Beecroft’s
free-kick.
In the Ryman Premier Division, Carl Rook scored twice for
Margate as they eased to a 3-0 win at Enfield
Town. The striker would have scored a hat-trick but saw his
second-half penalty saved by home keeper Noel Imber. Kezie Ibe
scored the other ‘Gate goal.
Thamesmead Town kept their play-off bid on
track in Ryman 1 North with a 1-0 success over AFC Sudbury thanks
to a 28th-minute strike from Lea Dawson.
The first meeting between Wroxham and Chatham
Town ended in a 1-1 stalemate. The Norfolk side scored
after just four minutes through a Ben Thompson penalty but the
Chats equalised on the stroke of half-time through Austin
Gacheru.
