All the latest from Crayford Greyhound Track

Last month the stadium staged an auction of Irish
greyhounds.
Fifty came over from the Fair Isles and most were sold. Crayford
trainers and owners bought around 30 – a bonus for the track as
they will add to our racing strength.
I secured one to add to my existing two but I am not giving any
clues. I will wait to see how she does before including her in my
column!
On a fast-running track, there were some impressive trial times
recorded by, in some cases, dogs that had not had a competitive
race yet alone seen Crayford before.
One of the fastest times over 380 metres came from Droopys
Marino, who registered 23.60sec.
He is an unraced puppy so there was nothing to go on apart from
that Droopy prefix which, as everyone in racing knows, means they
are usually decent dogs due to their breeding.
Other Droopys that ran well were Bingo (23.60), Melville
(23.91), City (24.09) and Olympia (23.99).
If any of these dogs run here they should be noted as serious
propositions.
Some greyhounds had previous race experience in Ireland and
these included Glenvale Evie, who has had three races at Drumbo
Park.
These were over 480m and first impressions indicate 380m here
will be to her liking.
In Ireland, she ran those races out of traps four and six. For
whatever reason, her trial here was out of trap two which also
seems to suit.
Mythical Coldwar was one on my shortlist and she won her trial
in an impressive 23.76.
She did a fast sectional time of 3.59 which, if repeated in most
races here, would be enough to win and her three competitive races
at Galway saw two wins and a second.
She clearly has potential, as her sale price here on the day
reflected and could go to the top grade here.
Look out also for Royal Posh, who had the experience of no less
than 14 races in Ireland before coming over for sale.
She is still young, being a December 2010 pup and will come onto
our race card with at least 2-3 years of racing to be had.
That trial time of 23.57 was excellent and, combined with her
previous races, makes her a potential winner.
