Gillingham boss Peter Taylor insists both Jake Hessenthaler and Bradley Dack could become long-term fixtures in the team.
Both were selected to start last week at Notts County and were again in the XI when the Gills hosted Peterborough at Priestfield.
On both occasions the midfield duo have impressed, with Hessenthaler providing defensive cover and Dack offering an attacking outlet.
Asked if they could become regular starters now, Taylor said: “Yes I do think so. They show enough quality and they show the desire and the strength. They have the ability to be worthy of selection.
“They have to show me that they are ready to go up a level and Jake has certainly done that and Bradley Dack has done that.
“Bradley runs all over the place and Jake wanted the ball in tight situations, which was good, and we had Callum Davies on at the end.
“Jake had a bit of a calf strain and so we had to take him off. Callum came on and did a great job for us."
