Gillingham boss Martin Allen must choose which of his inform strikers starts against Bristol City at Priestfield

Gills boss Martin Allen faces an attacking dilemma this weekend.
Allen may decide to hand Cody McDonald a starting place after the summer signing netted his first of the season last weekend.
McDonald’s late strike netted the Gills a point at Swindon.
Fellow strikers Adebayo Akinfenwa, Danny Kedwell and Antonio German, along with forward Myles Weston, are also determined to make their mark against Bristol City on Saturday.
Allen said: “Cody has done great but all of the forwards have been scoring and we could play three, or we could play one, upfront. It’s not always a case of choosing a partnership.
“At the moment it’s a nice problem to have and a nice situation to be in.”
McDonald, Akinfenwa and Kedwell have all got off their mark in recent weeks.
“Kedwell made the goal for Bayo (against Brentford) and they are all supporting each other,” said the Gills boss.
“I talk to them and let them know if they are not playing and these are the decisions that stop at my door. I don’t do it on my own, I have my senior staff who help me and we run through the DVDs and review performances.
“Sometimes, though, I go with my gut instinct. I have a feel for something and I take a gamble. I note their body language and whether they are going to bring something special.”
Gills make a change as McDonald replaces Akinfenwa
McDonald came on for Akinfenwa last weekend and scored Gillingham’s equaliser.
But Allen admitted McDonald’s celebration, infront of the away fans, wasn’t necessarily the one he had envisaged.
“I told him to go on and score and then give me the middle finger,” said the Gills boss.

“I said he should stand infront of the technical area and give me the middle finger. He laughed but I said I was serious. I told him to go on and show me what he could do and then I would take it.
“He didn’t do that in the end but that’s down to him.”
