We must now build on Swindon Town win, says Gillingham manager Peter Taylor

Manager Peter Taylor faces a challenge to ensure his Gillingham team don’t have a relapse.
The Gills have now beaten Swindon and Wolves at Priestfield since the turn of the year but had a forgettable performance at Colchester sandwiched in between.
Building on Saturday’s victory over Swindon will be something Taylor will be keen to deliver.
He said: “It is a nice habit (to be beating top sides) but I am sure the players knew last week we weren’t good enough against Colchester.
“Our performance was not up to standard and we knew we had to bounce back. It is easy to say that but not so easy to do it.
“I am sure the players will get confidence from that and it is up to me to make sure there is not another sloppy one next week.
“We got a result because we earned it and that is what we have to do. We hope to build on this but sometimes you then get a kick up the backside.”
Gillingham are back in action on Friday night, against in-form Brentford. That match is live on Sky Sports.
Despite Saturday’s tough game, on a sticky pitch, there will be no resting for Taylor’s men.
He said: “We are playing against a team with incredibly high fitness levels (next week), the best team in the division and they are playing exceptionally well.
“It is a great game going live on TV again, so it will be a big one for us and the players should be looking forward to it. We will be working hard to prepare for that.”
