The newspaper office opened in 1865, with a circulation of 500. It has always been in Queen Street, Deal, although it changed premises when the road was widened in 1933. Despite being shelled by the Germans in the Second World War, production continued throughout the war years.

Directions by Road

The nearest major trunk roads are the A2 and the A20. Follow them both to the end - at the Duke of York's roundabout just outside Dover - and then follow signs for Deal. Follow the A258 through to Walmer, reaching the seafront to reach Deal; then follow the seafront road to a roundabout, where you turn left into Broad Street - after a few yards this becomes Queen Street and no. 13 is 200 yards on the left. There is a pay and display car park off Broad Street, 100 yards before 13 Queen Street.

The nearest train station is Deal; turn right out of the station into Queen Street - no.13 is 150 yards on the right.

Directions by Bus

Stagecoach runs services to Deal from all over East Kent, including Dover, Folkestone, Canterbury and Thanet.
Deal bus station is in South Street. Turn right from South Street into Deal High Street, walk 200 yards to Queen Street, where no.13 is another 200 yards on the left.
