The Ashford Extra is a free newspaper delivered
door to door to provide a comprehensive snapshot of news,
views and advertising in the immediate area. Its role
is to support and promote in depth coverage of local
events that matter to the community at large to appear
in the sister title the Kentish Express.
The paper was started by a private entrepreneur back
in the 1960s who wrote and printed what was then known
as the Ashford Advertiser. It was taken over in the
mid-1970s by Kent Messenger Ltd and changed name to
join the county-wide Extra stable of publications.
