Celebrating Kent business excellence
Winners of the second annual Kent Excellence
in Business Awards (KEiBA) were announced at a
glittering, 450-seat event at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham.
Staged and produced by Kent County Council and KM Group,
eleven local businesses and individuals celebrated success in
The BIG Space, a building once home to naval ship construction
and repair. A Champagne reception was held aboard the 19th century
ship HMS Gannet. The Historic Dockyard was crowned Best Leisure and
Tourism Business in 2009.
KEiBA aims to recognise and reward
excellence in Kent and Medway businesses of all sizes as well as
individual awards. 34 finalists had been picked from more than 200
businesses and individuals who entered.
One of those awarded was Douglas Horner, who
was handed the Outstanding Contribution to the Business Community
of Kent award.
Geraldine Allinson, Chairman of KM Group,
said: “Douglas Horner is so deserving of recognition for his
tireless work in supporting businesses in Kent. He is a strategist
who admits to preferring to be ‘in the shadows.’ I am glad,
therefore, that through this award we have been able to put his
outstanding contribution under the spotlight for others to
applaud.”
