KM Group at Kent County Show
This year marks the 80th year of the largest outdoor
event in Kent, the Kent County
Show. One of the showcase displays will be KM Group’s
'News in Pictures' photographic exhibition.
On show in the Kent Pavilion, opposite KM
Group’s show stand, the display includes more than 100 pictures of
major news and sport events from the last 80 years. It includes Maidstone
United's open-topped bus
parade through the town centre in the 1980s, the Tour de France
whizzing through the
county in 2007 and Radio 1's Big Weekend last
summer.
Previously presented at Maidstone's Mall
Chequers and Royal Star Arcade, the images for the display
were initially selected by KM Group
Picture Editor Barry Hollis and KM reporter Angela Cole to
celebrate 150 years of
Kent Messenger.
KM Group is a regular exhibitor at the Kent
County Show, which takes place at the Kent Showground, Detling Hill
between 17th and 19th July.
This year, visitors to stand 256
will also be invited
to experience Kent’s War; a unique archive website containing tens
of thousands of stories, photographs and advertisements from KM
Group papers published between 1939 and 1945.
First
demonstrated at The Historic Dockyard Chatham on
Armed Forces Day, the website is scheduled to launch in September
to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Second World
War.
The KM Group stand will be manned by full-time
personnel and event staff, who will be talking to readers and
kmfm listeners and also giving away
merchandise (including
Dole Fruit Cups).
Visitors will also be given the opportunity to
enter competitions to win £300 of vouchers from Hempstead Valley and a
Virgin Balloon flight.
