Position as Kent’s leading media business strengthens

In a market where publishers have changed their operating model, KM Group has maintained a firm and consistent belief in high-quality, paid-for newspapers, as well as mass-market coverage through free newspapers and other news and information services, notably online and radio.

The latest ABC figures (Jul – Dec 2009) confirm KM Group’s leading position in Kent, circulating 38% more newspapers than the combined audited circulation of all of its competitors in its publishing area.

In terms of paid newspapers, KM Group’s latest figures show 117,579 copies sold weekly (41% more copies than any other publisher) including the flagship Kent Messenger title, which retains its position as the largest weekday-selling weekly newspaper in the UK.

KM Group’s total free newspaper distribution is 274,904 copies per week (more than double any other group in its publishing area) mainly delivered direct to home, but with availability enhanced through ABC-audited copies in selected high-footfall locations.

All KM Group newspapers are available online, although most digital traffic is generated via KentOnline, the only ABCe-audited site for Kent, with 231,064 unique browsers monthly.*

Unlike the traditional publishers, KM Group also complements its newspaper and online services with 8 Kent-based radio stations, which deliver 164,000 listeners per week.**
