KM Group supports local radio
Whether playing requests or
supporting local charity events, local radio plays an important
role within communities. Last week KM Group
used seven of its newspaper titles to highlight the
importance of local broadcasting to listeners and advertisers.
The newspaper publisher established KM
Radio in 2001 with the purchase of two existing local stations.
Over the next few years, other stations were purchased and all were
ultimately rebranded KM-fm and then kmfm.

Broadcasting from Kent to Kent, KM Group
is as committed to independent local radio as it is local
newspapers. The seven FM stations that make up the kmfm
network broadcast a combination of unique and shared content,
presenters interact regularly with listeners and local news and
traffic and travel information are vital regular features.
A 4-page newspaper wrap was carried
on seven of KM Group’s eight freely circulated newspapers
(all those available in the kmfm broadcast area) and profiles
a number of kmfm presenters who live in the county.
There is also detail on some of the local campaigns the network
has been involved in and featured testimonials from listeners and
advertisers.
Broadcasting from the very heart of Kent
communities, kmfm is Kent’s only local radio network, covering
Ashford, Canterbury, Maidstone, Medway, Shepway, Thanet and West
Kent and collectively reaching 160,000 listeners every week.* An
additional station called kmfm
Extra is also available on DAB.
