Ashford couple inundated after goodwill offering

Ernie and Sue Warren, proprietors of Sandyacres Sports and Social Club in Ashford, have been inundated with offers of support for their third annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party.

kmfm Ashford’s popular breakfast show presenters will once again join a host of local talent for the event. John Webster aka Webbo will once again be hosting, with co-presenter Kirstyn Read lending support.

The party increases in popularity each year and almost become too popularWebbo explains “We had 60 attend the first year, 80 the second and we could have had 200 this year as the word has spread. Unfortunately we can only cater for 100 this year because of limited space.”

In addition to the kmfm presenters donating their time, regular KM Group advertiser and avid listener John Howland of Swift Security also got involved after hearing the event mentioned, donating funds that will cover the meals.

All of staff and helpers for the party volunteer their time. Webbo adds “Ricky Fontaine, a local singing ‘legend’ brings all his p.a. stuff and does some Rock n’ Roll. Entertainer Ellie Fury will return to where it all began at this year’s party and Alan Peach will get the sing-along going with some “roll out the barrel”-type songs.

"Plus this year we are joined by a Beverley Sisters type tribute act, called The Clover Sisters. I MC the event and Kirstyn chips in with helping serve up the delicious three-course Christmas dinner.”

The party takes place mid-day on Thursday, December 17 and lasts approximately three hours.
