Margate’s Big Event a big success

Margate's Big Event drew record crowds over the weekend, marking another successful collaboration between Thanet District Council and KM Group.

Over 90,000 people flocked to Kent’s leading air and land festival, which took place in Palm Bay on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June.

As official media partner, KM Group’s coverage of the event was extensive, including editorial and advertising support in the freely circulated Thanet Extra, the countywide What’s On supplement, on the Thanet Extra website and on kmfm for Thanet.

There were exclusive news stories, interviews and previews ahead of the big weekend and KM Group photographer Paul Dennis was there to capture all the action for this week’s newspaper, now available to view online at www.thanetepaper.co.uk

Media Sales Manager Steph Thompson says “KM Group have been media partner for the Big Event for three years and we were very excited to learn this year’s was the biggest and best so far."

The free event featured appearances by the famous Red Arrows, the RAF’s latest Eurofighter Typhoon jet and a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, while on the ground circus teams, jugglers, acrobats and human statues and more kept visitors amused.

KM Group and Thanet District Council’s are currently continuing an important domestic abuse campaign and working toward the inaugural Thanet Sports Awards, due to take place at the Winter Gardens Margate on Wednesday 11 November.

Steph adds, “Thanet District Council have taken full advantage of our multimedia platforms (radio, press and online) across East Kent”
