Proud achievement for Medway reporters
Two Medway Messenger reporters have been recognised at the
10th annual Pride in Medway awards.
Keyan Milanian and Jenni Horn were amongst 41 finalists
nominated for their community activities and achievements.
Jenni was part of a hospital radio team
recognised for its community work and for entertaining patients at
Medway Maritime.
Keyan donated blood stem cells to a
seriously ill patient after being inspired to register with the
Anthony Nolan Trust, a charity that finds matches for leukaemia
patients.
It has been a busy 12 months for Keyan, who
also took part in the Three Peaks Challenge, along with Jenni, to
raise money for CPC Kent, a charity that helps children with
cerebral palsy.
He was also part of the support team for Pride
in Medway award winner Jack Denness, the septuagenerian ultra
marathon runner, in his charity run in Death Valley,
California.
Both reporters received awards at a gala prize
giving dinner hosted by the University of Kent at Medway on
February 19, 2011.
Editor Bob Bounds said: "I don't think I've
worked at an office where the team is so actively involved with
community activities and in particular charity work. They really
care about Medway but importantly they walk the walk too! I am very
proud of them."
