KM Charity Team event raises over £12,000
The KM Charity
Team is celebrating the stunning success of the latest
KM Big Quiz event in which a record amount raised for local
causes.
The wine and wisdom night was staged at the Body and Mind
Sports Centre in Canterbury on Friday, March 19 and raised £12,200
for the League of Friends at Kent & Canterbury Hospital, Kent
Walking Bus, Lady Mayoress of Canterbury’s Charity Appeal and the
Kentish
Gazette’s Charity of the Year Kent Multiple Sclerosis Therapy
Centre.
The in-house charity of KM Group, The KM
Charity Team is celebrating ten years of fundraising and this Big
Quiz, the 10th to be held in Canterbury, attracted a record 85
teams to join in the night, including the Kentish Gazette paper’s
reporting team.
Scoring a stunning 90 per cent of
correct answers, the team “Deirdre Barlow’s Neck Muscles” won the
KM Big Quiz Trophy.
Team captain Steve Lilley received his
trophy and prizes, including P&O Ferries vouchers and wine
donated by Tesco, Faversham, by event sponsors Andy Page of
Churchfield Homecare Services and Kate Teasdale of Parry
Law.
Mr Lilley said: “We had a couple of lucky guesses,
but we also have a couple of new team members who made big
difference and helped us win this year. And we will be back again
next year.”
Deirdre Barlow’s Neck Muscles will join
the two second-placed teams Supernova and The Bonney Cravat from
Woodchurch in the county final of the KM Big Quiz in December when
they will compete against top placed teams from the Maidstone,
Ashford and Medway event due to be staged later this
year.

the breathtaking amount of funds each event raises for good causes.
All the team and volunteers who helped stage the event are so proud
of this achievement.”
