A man has been airlifted to a London hospital after being hit by a car. Police have shut the A28 Chart Road in Ashford between the Matalan and Tank roundabouts following the incident, which happened by a pedestrian crossing.

Thousands of visitors spent the day at the Kent County Show as it opened its doors for the weekend. The show which promotes all things Kent attracts around 80,000 people each year. 18 inmates at the HMP Swaleside in Sheppey will go on trial after rioting at a prison. They were charged with prison mutiny after an attempted takeover at the Sheppey complex last December. We were joined by our reporter, Poppy Jeffery, who was outside the prison to talk a bit more about the story.
