Is it worth putting a tax on chewing gum?

Ministers will consider imposing a chewing gum tax to stop people throwing it away on the street.Gum is highly damaging to the environment and costs councils nearly 50 million pounds to clear-up every year.Chancellor Philip Hammond is set to launch a public consultation tomorrow to show officials how the tax system can be used to help the environment. We asked shoppers in Rochester if they think it's worth putting a tax on chewing gum.
