Medway's latest councillor Alex Paterson's taken the seat after Tory MP Kelly Tolhurst stepped down from the role. In a ward seen by many as a Conservative safe seat, a turnout of 33% saw the Labour candidate receive more than 1,200 votes, 205 more than nearest Conservative rival Alan Kew.
