The two biggest donations are a Pocher Lamborghini Aventador that retails at £500 and a Hornby Western Express worth £300.

Sandie Johnson of Hornby Visitor Centre said: “We are proud to support the KM Big Quiz which has heats around the county and normally raises about £30,000 a year.”

The remaining donations include a £130 James Bond Spectre Scalextric set, a Thomas the Tank Engine set worth £60, Scalextric cars costing £40, and an Airfix Quick Build and Corgi Super Haulers worth £10 each.

Hornby classic toys and collectables will be distributed as raffle prizes among the four heats of the KM Big Charity Quiz which concludes with a Big Quiz Grand Final at the end of the year, where the brainiest teams go head to head for the Champions Trophy.

Quiz teams can book now for the Medway and Canterbury heats and organisers are hoping both events will be a great success and set new records for fundraising. Maidstone and Ashford heats will also take place next year but are not yet open for bookings.

The 10 anniversary Medway Big Quiz will be staged on Friday, March 11, 2016 at St George Hotel, Chatham and the Canterbury Quiz will be hosted by the University of Kent Sports Centre on Friday, April 22, 2016. Doors open at 7pm and bookings can be made online at www.kmbigquiz.co.uk.

Each Big Quiz includes the Spitfire charity bar supplied by Shepherd Neame which is run by a Barclays bank team of volunteers. The raffle and charity bar contribute a significant sum to the overall funds raised on the night. Other supporters of the Big Quiz include Specsavers, MHA MacIntyre Hudson and Hallett and Co.

Simon Dolby, chief executive of the KM Charity Team which runs the Big Quiz events, said: “Hornby has donated a bumper haul of prizes for next year’s Big Quiz events and we hope that other businesses will follow their lead and get involved.

“Organisations can support the quiz by sponsoring a round, donating prizes or entering teams to take part.”

Companies booking at least three teams for the quiz will have a prize presented to their top scoring team. Prizes will also go to the best teams from the NHS and caring services, local government and schools.

Booking a team of up to eight participants for the Big Quiz includes a free drink and ploughman's supper for each quizzer as well as a prize packed raffle and the chance to win £100 in cash.

For more information, or to book, visit www.kmbigquiz.co.uk. Organisations interested in supporting the Big Quiz should contact Simon Dolby at sdolby@thekmgroup.co.uk or on 07989 164 752.

This weekend Hornby Visitor Centre will stage a factory warehouse sale. It will be the last chance to visit the current site as the business is moving to new premises next year.

Sandie Johnson said: “We’re moving to a brand new building at Ramsgate harbour - purpose built, two floors, lots more interactive, much more museum - it’s going to be so exciting."
