Year 6 pupils were presented with Bronze and Silver level certificates at a special presentation assembly earlier this week.

The children passed the test devised by KM Walk to School which teaches children vital skills on how to correctly behave when using the roads, by paying attention to signs, crossings and other warnings in place to protect pedestrians and motorists.

The online Road Safety Skills Tests are provided to schools across Kent, Medway and Bexley which are enrolled in services such as Super WOW!, Green Footsteps and Active Bug.

Children are presented with multiple choice questions which are based on the Government’s Junior Highway Code and are designed to help them become safer and more aware pedestrians. Each pupil receives a colour certificate for successfully passing the Bronze, Silver or Gold tests.

KM Walk to School includes engaging incentives for pupils, Ofsted self-evaluation evidence, and publicity through the KM Group. It also includes the Green Champions scheme, where pupils become ambassadors for green travel through newsletters, poster competitions and other activities.

Simon Dolby, Chief Executive of KM Walk to School, said: “We are immensely proud of the hardworking children at Gravel Hill. They have proven their dedication to road safety and have a clear understand of just how important it is to be aware and observant when walking to school.”
