Police are not treating the death of a man, killed in a fire in a barn near Maidstone on Friday, as suspicious.

Officers were called to Well Street, in Loose, at 3.40pm by Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

It was reported a man was trapped in the steel-framed barn, containing bales of hay.

A post mortem examination was held on Saturday, which showed the man died as a result of the fire. A report will now be prepared for the coroner.

Six fire engines, specialist support units and police cars attended the blaze.

Crews were still dampening down at the scene until the early hours of Saturday morning.
