Police and fire services called to car fire in Chalk Lane, Cranbrook

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack after they were called out to a car fire in Cranbrook last night.

They were alerted by firefighters, who were were called to Chalk Lane at 10.40pm, where the fire in a Honda Civic was raging.

They tackled the blaze and had put it out by 11.01pm.

Kent Police were called to the secluded country lane to investigate.

A spokesman said the abandoned vehicle had been set on fire deliberately.

The damage was so bad police have been unable to read the registration and chassis numbers.

The owner of the car has not been identified.
