Police warn people in Maidstone to secure garden tools

The police have issued a statement warning people to take extra care when it comes to securing garden tools.

They are currently investigating a report of a burglary at a garage on Penenden Heath Road, Maidstone, reported to have taken place between Tuesday July 9- and Monday, July 15.

Tools including drills, a hedge trimmer and a wacker plate were reported stolen.

A police spokesman said: "It is well worth homeowners investing in additional security, as if it deters a would-be burglar then it is money well spent.

"At this time of year garden equipment and tools are a popular target for thieves so it is worth keeping them fully secured, not left in work vans overnight, and protectively marked so we can identify the owner if we recover stolen property."
