A 16-year-old boy charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, possessing a bladed article and assault by beating has appeared at Sevenoaks Magistrates court.

The youngster, who can not be named for legal reasons, was remanded in the care of the local authority and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court.

His arrest came after a boy was hurt in a stabbing incident on playing fields in Cranbrook.

Police are investigating the violence that erupted in Turner Avenue on Friday night.

The victim is not believed to have suffered serious injuries.
