Motorists faced delays in Maidstone last night after a crash blocked one lane of the A249.

Queues formed on the southbound carriageway of the busy road, in Detling, as a result of the incident.

The collision happened at about 5pm, near the Junction 7 of the M20.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to the crash after reports of a person trapped in a vehicle but were called off on arrival.

South East Coast Ambulance treated one female driver at the scene for suspected whiplash.

The lane reopened about an hour later.
