Kaleidophone, from Maidstone, reunited with stolen equipment

A Maidstone indie band have been reunited with many of their beloved instruments following a theft earlier this month.

Kaleidophone had £12,000 of equipment stolen from their van, which was parked in the town’s Heather Drive, in the early hours of Tuesday, July 14.

An appeal followed, with posts on the band's Facebook page racking up thousands of shares.

The group, made up of Al Holland, James Holland, Mark Thompson and Mark Wells, were even loaned gear by Week Street’s Music Matters to allow them to continue gigging.

Yesterday the well-known four-piece shared their gratitude online after recovering all of their guitars, amplifiers and electronic pads.

As a result they will be performing on the main stage of Ashford’s Create Festival at 5.15pm today.

A statement on Kaleidophone’s Facebook page said: “We are happy to say that due to the efforts of an eagle eyed maidstonite and Kent Police we have received most of our gear back.”

They added: “We are so very thankful to everyone for the incredible efforts to share our need online, which undoubtedly led to us getting the stuff back.

“It’s been a tough couple of weeks and we are still gutted at the stuff we have lost but at least we can play our gig.”
