Mayor of London not out in Maidstone Mote Park match

Boris Johnson scored 23 not out in the match between the the House of Commons and Lords Cricket Team against Lashings All Stars yesterday at Mote Park.

He was the Westminster side's top scorer.

But the Mayor of London’s efforts did not prevent Lashings from running away with the match.

Perhaps it was not surprising as the MPs and Lords faced balls from some of the best bowlers in the country, including Courtney Walsh, Tino Best, Phillip DeFreitas and Devon Malcolm.

It was the mayor's debut appearance for the Parliamentarian team.

Lashings batted first and made 218 for one, with Adam Hollioake 90, and Tino Best 82 retired.

Boris bowled adequately, but did get some punishment from Tino Best.

The House of Commons XI made 81 for seven in reply and Boris was the top scorer with 23 not out although he should have been caught first ball.

So Lashings won by 137 runs.

The match was part of a four-team tournament which included The Mote and the West Indies under-15 sides.

The Mote beat West-Indies under-15s in the other semi-final.

Boris stayed for lunch and entertained the crowd with a speech.

Lashings then beat the Mote in the final by 10 runs, with Kirk Edwards the top scorer with 59.
