Maidstone: Boy suffers broken leg after being hit by car

A schoolboy has suffered a broken leg after being hit by a car.

Police and medics were called to Sutton Road, Maidstone, at around 6pm following reports of a boy, believed to be aged 12 or 13, being hit by a car.

Traffic in the area is being diverted as he is treated at the junction with Willington Street.

Witnesses said the boy was still in his school uniform and Sutton Road was initially closed in the direction of Headcorn.

Kent Police confirmed it was called to the scene by Secamb at 6.03pm, where they discovered a child had been hit by a car.

He was taken to Pembury hospital for treatment.
