Kent singer Adam Chandler from Eccles - who starred on Britain's Got Talent with Jack Pack - denies assault charge at Maidstone Magistrates' Court

A Britain's Got Talent contestant from Kent has appeared in court today to deny assaulting a former girlfriend.

Swing band Jack Pack singer Adam Chandler, 29, appeared at Maidstone Magistrates' Court under his real name, Adam Diplock.

The former Aylesford School student, of Mackenders Lane, Eccles, answered one charge of assaulting Amy Evans, occasioning actual bodily harm.

The charge, which he denied, is alleged to have taken place in Maidstone on Friday, January 3.

He had appeared in the final of the ITV talent show with swing band Jack Pack.

Chandler had previously also appeared on The X Factor in 2007 in a band called Futureproof.

He was granted conditional bail and the case will next be heard at Maidstone Crown Court.
