A van blocking a road is causing delays for motorists in Maidstone tonight.

A white Ford Transit-type vehicle has blocked both lanes of the A249 Mote Road near its junction with Lower Stone Street and Romney Place.

Kent Highways has warned drivers to expect delays.

Traffic cameras show other traffic including a truck trying to squeeze round the obstruction.

It is not known at the moment why the van is in the way but it looks like it has broken down.

The delay could not have come at a worse time as commuters are on their way home to begin the four-day Easter break.
