Car and bus collide in Maidstone town centre

Paramedics are at the scene of a crash in Maidstone town centre.

A single-decker bus - thought to be the route 3 - collided with a Mini Cooper at the junction with High Street and Fairmeadow, just before 3pm.

Motorists are still able to cross the River Medway, with buses being diverted away from High Street.

There is one ambulance currently at the scene, along with Kent Police officers.

A spokesperson from Kent Police said: "Kent Police was called at 2.52pm on Thursday 4 January regarding a collision involving a car and a bus in the High Street, Maidstone.

"Officers are currently at the scene where a man is being treated for injuries.

"The lower part of the High Street between Mill Street and Fairmeadow is currently closed to traffic travelling towards the bridge-system."

We have approached South East Coast Ambulance Service for comment.
